A key issue associated with the use, reuse, and interoperability of simulations and simulation components is credibility. In October 2003, a Product Development Group was formed to address the issue of High Level Architecture (HLA) federation credibility through the establishment of VV&A guidance. The resulting product, Recommended Practice for Verification, Validation, and Accreditation - an overlay to the High Level Architecture Federation Development and Execution Process was approved as an IEEE Standard 1516.4 in December 2007.
A VV&A Product Support Group (PSG) is required to support the approved IEEE 1516.4 standard.
In accordance with SISO-ADM-002-2008, the VV&A Overlay PSG will serve as a central point for interpretations of product language, providing help desk support to the SISO community, and accepting, developing, and maintaining problem/change reports to support future product revisions.
