Product Development Groups

Product Development Groups (PDGs) are formed as a result of approved Product Nominations (PN) to develop or modify Balloted Products. The PDG does the work required to create the Balloted Product and resolve ballot comments. The PDG builds a product based on consensus to meet the PN. The PDG may assume a dual role under another standards organization under an agreement between SISO and the other standards organization, e.g., IEEE.

You are considered a Member of a specific PDG if you have...

2 - A current SISO membership (required by P&P (SISO-ADM-002-2008.1 para 6.2.3).

3. Submitted your Affiliation data (see below).

4. Subscribed to the specific discussion. Once you've logged in to the SISO site and completed your Affiliation Data, please select "Discussions" from the left hand menu, find your PDG discussions of interest, check the box to the right of each one you wish to subscribe to, then select the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.

Our BPDSP (para 4.2.3.4) states "...Only personnel with completed affiliation information will be allowed voting rights in a PDG." You will need to fill out the Affiliation Data Form for EACH PDG that you would like to participate in. Please select the icon next to each PDG to fill out its individual Affiliation Data Form. Remember to "submit".

Each Product Development Group is composed of the three groups shown below:

PDG Drafting Group - This group is responsible for performing the analysis and product development steps outlined as Stage Two, (see SISO P&P section 5) of the Product Development Process. This includes evaluating and evolving a draft product; circulating the product for review; responding to comments by reviewers; and responding to the SAC on scope, schedule, and technical issues. The number of drafting group members is established by the SAC, based on the nature and expected activity level of the PDG. This number will normally range from five to seven members. Drafting group membership is assigned by the SAC.
PDG Assigned Reviewers - This group is responsible for concentrated review and comment on all products, including the interim products identified in the SISO P&P Section 5. The PDG Assigned Reviewers will have up to twenty members. The members will be recommended by the Drafting Group and approved by the SAC. The Drafting Group and the Assigned Reviewers will determine when the interim phases of analysis are complete.
Volunteer Reviewers - This group is responsible for overall review of the product. The Volunteer Reviewers may review any draft of the product and provide comments to the Drafting Group. Volunteer Reviewer membership is unlimited in size and is open to the SISO community.
