For the first time, SISO is actively attempting to interest talented youth in simulation as a career choice. Part of this activity is to create an experimental rate structure that is inexpensive enough to permit students to attend.
To enable interested High School upper-class persons and College undergraduates during their first two years to attend an SIW, the SISO Conference committee will offer a one day Special Student registration for $35 per person. This experimental rate currently only applies to the Spring 2006 SIW and the co-located SCS SpringSim Conference being held in Huntsville, Alabama. 2-7 April, 2006. To maximize the student's experience, the Special Student registration would be best exercised on Tuesday, April 4th or Wednesday, April 5th.
This will authorize the student registrant to attend all SIW activities, socials, panel discussions, paper presentations etc. during the day for which the individual is registered.
Special Student registration does not confer membership in SISO or the co-located SCS conference. It also does not allow the Special Student registrant to present or author papers.
Special Student registration might be a prize or incentive offered by schools, universities, businesses or organizations. Registration must be by name. No group registrations can be accepted.
Please get the word out. We hope that this experiment will lead to renewed interest in M&S among students. Later, we believe that it may help increase membership in SISO and SCS. Please note that SISO continues to offer a 50% registration discount to all bona fide students for full SIW registration, which includes SISO membership. This special $35 single-day rate is aimed at reaching a younger group of students.
REGISTRATION MUST NOW BE DONE ON-SITE!
