Make Your HLA Federations Fault Tolerant with HLA Evolved
Article by: Björn Möller, Pitch Technologies

Björn Möller, Pitch Technologies

As HLA has moved out of the labs into real world deployment we have seen an increasing demand for fault tolerance. M&S systems, both for analytical and training purposes, need to be able to accommodate for and efficiently handle faults. Examples of common faults are broken network links, failing hard drives, crashing simulation software and faults induced by end users. Consequences of not properly handling these faults include loss of time, money and, not the least; trust in M&S solutions....

From the Editors
Article by: Mike Lightner and Sharon Hardy

Welcome to the Spring 2005 edition of the SISO Simulation Technology On-Line Magazine. The M&S community and profession is ever growing and the challenges we face can sometimes seem daunting. But however difficult, these challenges are interesting and most often fun to take on and solve. In the process we grow as a community and present real solutions to real issues and leave a lasting and positive impact on our community and those we serve. SISO plays a critical role in supporting this ever growing community of M&S professionals in addressing these challenges by advancing new ideas in the form of technologies, standards and best practices all aimed at improving the application of M&S solutions and meeting the community’s needs. We believe that this on-line magazine supports and enhances that role and we are proud of the contribution it makes. ...

From the EXCOM
Article by: Warren Katz

The Spring 05 SIW took place at the Hilton Mission Valley in San Diego. Our continuing tradition of moving the Spring workshop around the country while keeping the Fall workshop in Orlando appears to be meeting with a positive response from our membership. Attendence was sharply higher than Spring 04 in Washington D.C. This was also a co-located event with Society for Computer Simulation (SCS) Advanced Simulation Technology Conference (ASTC), giving us greater negotiating power with our facilities provider, and making the event a nexus of modeling and simulation activity in the springtime....

Simulation Interoperability Workshops: The CC Report
Article by: Rick Sharp

It’s hard to believe that this is my last year as CC chair, the years went so fast. SISO has changed considerably, bigger, better, busier, and actively reaching out to the M&S community. I like to think that I played a part in all that, it was my goal when I first started on the CC. So enough reminiscing, I'll save that for this Fall....
