Technology Soundbites
Article by: Dell Lunceford.com  (dell@lunceford.com)

One of the many challenges for the simulation professonal (simulationist) is staying abreast of technology. Not only is everyone busy, but the technology base that simulation developers rely on is large and varied. Most people just do not have the time to read everything they should and to spend the time seeking out new ideas, techniques and technology advances. So, in an attempt to bring readers of Simulation Technology highlights of interesting technology ‘sound bites’, we provide the following links that people have sent in. Hopefully they will not only help keep everyone up to date on what is new and/or changing but will also give you better insight into where things are headed.

As you run across similar articles that you feel would be of interest to the simulation community, please forward them (and the URL) to dell@lunceford.com

"VIRTUAL WORLDS" NSF GRANT

Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) are developing "virtual worlds" that one day could allow planners nationwide to design better cities by "visiting" a computer-generated metropolis or where firefighters could consult "digital buildings" to decide how to battle a blaze.
