The PDGL has the following specific responsibilities:
Coordinate with the SAC Technical Area Director. After a Product Nomination has been approved by the EXCOM, the SAC assigns the Product Nomination to a Technical Area Director (TAD). TADs are SAC members charged with oversight of the technical developments as well as actions and progress of the PDGs in their assigned technical area or domain.
Chair PDG meetings.
Manage the development of the product. This includes the development of major goals, product development, and the conduct of meetings and activities appropriate for attaining the product schedule.
Ensure the product addresses the issues in the Product Nomination.
Report to the SAC regarding PDG activities and progress.
Present PDG progress to the SISO community and coordinating feedback from the community. Provide progress reports to other PDGs that are developing related products.
Developing the approach and plan Review the Product Nomination in its entirety and establish a clear understanding of the problem statement and the recommended approach. Review the Product Nomination problem statement and the proposed solution and determine the appropriate SISO product or products to address the issue. Develop a plan noting PDG activities and estimated timelines for each activity.
Drafting Product and Compliance Criteria Draft the identified SISO product in a SAC approved format. Identify compliance criteria to evaluate compliance of the product. Develop test procedures for the products under development.
Prototype Evaluation and Product Impact Analysis Evaluate the prototypes identified in the Product Nomination to determine whether they adhere to the draft product or if other prototypes are necessary to validate the product. Analyze and evaluate the impact of the SISO product on existing models and simulations, different M&S domains, and the consistency of the product with the SISO suite of products.
Balloting Design and Product Recommendation. Identify the group to ballot the product. Prepare a recommendation to the SAC when the product is ready to be balloted. Develop additional balloting data for other organizations, as required. Ensure adequate response to comments throughout development and balloting
