Abstract: The Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) was created in 1996 to support the development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) standards, thanks to a strong support of the US Department of Defense. Since then, it has produced dozens of standards for technological and methodological aspects of the M&S activity. These standards are published by SISO itself or by IEEE. This talk will shortly introduce SISO and its main products emphasizing the importance of such an organization to the overall M&S community.

Abstract: Karen Jackson, the Commonwealth of Virginia Secretary of Technology, is a proponent for M&S and believes in the value it offers. Ms. Jackson will be sharing her thoughts and vision on the potential application of M&S as enabler to support cybersecurity, health care, energy, and other avenues. She will also be discussing the importance for SISO to continue innovating standards and expanding its application and discovery.
